Hazeltine - Our Farm

Hazeltine Strawberries is a proud member of the Wisconsin Berry Growers Association. Membership in this organization primarily means that the Hazeltines and their farm support educational and promotional opportunities involving strawberries in the state of Wisconsin. For several years, the Hazeltines have helped the WGBA staff a booth at the Wisconsin State Fair, promoting berries and selling various berry delicacies including Belgian Waffles, shakes, sundaes, and the infamous berry turnovers.

At a WBGA Field Day during the 2000 harvest season, the Hazeltines encountered a team working at the University of Wisconsin in berry research. The team, along with the cooperation of the Hazeltines, is trying to develop products and/or techniques that encourage both safety and efficiency in the berry industry. One such tool used in experimentation by the Hazeltines is the Swedish designed Drengen, pictured below.

The Drengen machine was used to pick blossoms off first-year plants, in the spring 2000 and 2001..
