Hazeltine - Our Farm

Sole owners and operators since 1977, Doug and Sue Hazeltine are proud of their successful business, providing excellent locally-grown strawberries to their community. Hazeltine Strawberries is a family-run operation, pleased to announce that the business is primarily managed and staffed by Hazeltines!

Although he grew up on a dairy farm, and as an adult farmed with traditional crops of corn and soybeans for many years, Doug is no longer what you might consider a traditional farmer. He rents out much of his farmland, keeping the strawberry acreage and some additional land that is related to the berries. The Hazeltines have some land in grassland and wetland projects. The storage rental business continues to grow and sustain their income year round. Their farm near Footville (the strawberry farm) has been in Doug's family for over 100 years.

Doug and Sue love God, life, family, and others. As Christians, their core values affect all they do, from raising a strong, devoted family to serving others in the community. Honesty, generosity, loyalty, service, kindness and faithfulness are evident in all they do. Doug's good sense of humor and easy-going, positive attitude seem to appeal and even motivate those he encounters. Sue's friendliness and generosity are shared with everyone she meets.

They enjoy time spent with family, especially the grandchildren. They find opportunities all year to visit their family in northern Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Likewise, all the kids and grandkids enjoy coming home to visit and help work on the farm.

Avid travelers, Doug and Sue have visited every state in the union... except Alaska. A trip is currently being planned to complete this trek to all 50 states. Other hobbies include bicycling, Free Cell card game, and TV westerns for Doug and walking, healthy eating, country music and bargain shopping for Sue.
